A Virágos Magyarország Projekt célja a kulturált és vonzó országkép kialakítása, fenntartható fejlődés szempontjainak következetes alkalmazása, a településen élők összefogásának ösztönzése, az életminőség javítása, a környezettudatos gondolkodás és szemlélet erősítése, a természeti és az építészeti örökség megőrzése és gyarapítása, a turisztikai fejlesztési szempontok érvényesítése.
A magyar verseny kapcsolódik az Európai Virágos Városok és Falvak Versenyéhez (Entente Florale Europe), amely több mint három évtizedes múltra tekint vissza. Az Entente Florale Europe több, mint verseny: kampány az európai közös környezeti és kulturális értékek megóvásáért, az élhetőbb környezet megteremtéséért az európai összetartozás jegyében. Az európai verseny 9 ország mintegy 20 ezer települését és több mint 45 millió lakosát tudhatja maga mögött, egyedülálló módon Európában.
Varsány 2012-ben jelentkezett először a Virágos Magyarország programba, amelyen elnyerte az Arany Rózsa díjat. A település 2012-től napjainkig részt vesz a programon.
2015. évi Virágos Magyarországért környezetszépítő versenyen, a „kimagasló teljesítményért” elismerést kapta.
2016-ban a verseny Szervező Bizottsága az ,,Év települése” díjjal jutalmazta Varsány Község Önkormányzatát.
A 2018-as jubileumi megmérettetésen Varsány fővédnöki díjban részesült.
2021-ben a település a szakmai zsűri döntése alapján Miniszterelnöki különdíjban részesült. Nagy János, Miniszterelnöki Programirodát vezető államtitkár személyesen hozta el Varsányba a Virágos Magyarország környezetszépítő verseny különdíját, melyet a település Orbán Viktor miniszterelnök úrtól kapott.
2022-ben a Virágos Önkormányzatért díjat vette át Varsány, melyet a Belügyminisztérium alapított.
A 2023. évi jubileumi 30. alkalommal tartott díjkiosztón Varsány község országos első helyezést ért el. Ezáltal lehetőség nyílik arra, hogy Varsány részt vegyen az Európai Virágos Városok és Falvak, az Entente Floral Europe versenyen. A nemzetközi szakmai zsűri 2025. június 29-én látogat Varsányba.
Floral Hungary
The Flowering Hungary Project aims to create a cultivated and attractive image of Hungary, to consistently apply the aspects of sustainable development, to encourage the unity of the people living in the settlement, to improve the quality of life, to strengthen environmentally conscious thinking and attitudes, to preserve and enhance the natural and architectural heritage, and to enforce the tourism development aspects.
The Hungarian competition is linked to the European Contest of Towns and Villages in Bloom (Entente
Florale Europe), which has been running for more than three decades. The Entente Florale Europe is more than a competition: it is a campaign to preserve Europe's common environmental and cultural values and to create a more liveable environment in the spirit of European solidarity. The European competition brings together some 20,000 municipalities and more than 45 million inhabitants from 9 countries, in a unique way in Europe.
Varsány first entered the Flowering Hungary programme in 2012, where it won the Golden Rose award. The municipality has participated in the programme from 2012 to the present day.
In 2015, it received the "Outstanding Achievement" award at the Flower of Hungary Environmental Design Competition.
In 2016, the Organizing Committee of the competition awarded the Municipality of Varsány with the "Municipality of the Year" award.
Varsány received the main patron award at the 2018 anniversary competition.
In 2021, the municipality was awarded the Prime Minister's Special Prize by a jury of experts. János Nagy, State Secretary in charge of the Prime Minister's Programme Office, personally brought the special prize of the Flowery Hungary competition for environmental design to Varsány, which the municipality received from Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
In 2022, Varsány received the Municipality in Bloom Award, established by the Ministry of the Interior.
At the 30th anniversary award ceremony in 2023, the municipality of Varsány was ranked first in the country. This will give Varsány the opportunity to participate in the European Competition for Towns and Villages in Bloom, Entente Floral Europe. The international professional jury will visit Varsány on 29 June 2025.
